WetzEnt Architecture 2 Outcomes
About

Thirty-seven years of watching the same seam break. A2O is the methodology that came out of it.

WetzEnt, LLC was founded in 2024 by Kevin Wetzel after a career that traced — by accident more than by plan — the entire seam where business strategy and IT capability fail to meet.

Our Origin

From the wires, to the boardroom, to the architect’s desk.

Kevin started in 1987 as a network engineer at Northwest Airlines. He spent the 1990s in the management chair at H.B. Fuller — eventually as Director of IT Operations reporting directly to the CIO, running a global portfolio across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. The 2000s he spent as an architect: Principal Domain Lead and Solutions Architect at Prime Therapeutics, then nine years inside Cisco Systems as a Solutions Integration Architect — this time on the vendor side of customer design rooms.

That arc — engineer → manager → director → in-house architect → vendor-side solution lead — is unusual. Most enterprise architects have never run an operations budget. Most operations directors have never designed a target architecture. Each chair was the vantage point the next one was missing.

A2O is what came out the other end. It’s the methodology Kevin wished had existed every time a strategy deck landed in an IT department that couldn’t execute it, and every time a technical assessment landed on an executive committee that didn’t read it. Top-Down and Bottom-Up running in parallel from day one. Five pillars. Five signed deliverables. One roadmap.

Founder

Meet Kevin Wetzel.

Every WetzEnt engagement is led by Kevin personally. There are no staffing pyramids, no offshore back-fill, no junior consultants learning on your time. The architect you meet in the first conversation is the architect who runs your engagement.

Result-driven enterprise IT leader with 37+ years across IP convergence, IT operations, contact-center services, enterprise architecture, and data networking. Has managed $6M+ operational budgets and built business cases with rigorous TCO and ROI discipline. Speaks engineering and finance with equal fluency.

Global business experience across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. Has restructured IT organizations to better support emerging technology and aligned IT functions to directly serve business strategy — the two halves of what later became A2O.

Selected wins. Took IP telephony availability from 99.0% to 100% at Prime Therapeutics. Cut communications costs 20% while expanding network capacity 150% at H.B. Fuller. Delivered $2M of 5-year savings from IP telephony designs. Renegotiated network contracts for up to 45% cost reduction. Selected to the Cisco Collaboration Customer Advisory Board.

Capabilities

Four practice areas. Built from 37 years in the chair.

Every WetzEnt engagement is anchored in the A2O methodology, but the technical depth lives in four practice areas that map directly to where transformations actually break.

System Integration

End-to-end orchestration across vendors, platforms, and operating models — so the architecture you signed is the one that ships.

  • Cross-platform infrastructure design
  • Vendor evaluation & selection (RFP / RFI)
  • Migration & cutover planning
  • Multi-vendor environment orchestration
  • Technical due diligence & risk review
Cisco · Microsoft · AWS · Azure ecosystems

Networking

Enterprise data and IP networking from the campus edge to the cloud — designed for scale, segmentation, and survivability.

  • Enterprise LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN
  • IP convergence (voice, video, data)
  • Wireless & mobility architecture
  • Data-center & cloud networking
  • QoS, capacity planning & optimization
Cisco DNA · SD-WAN · Meraki · Multi-cloud

Cybersecurity

Architecture-led security. Segmentation, perimeter design, and compliance frameworks built into the network blueprint — not bolted on after.

  • Network segmentation strategy
  • Perimeter & edge security architecture
  • PCI, HIPAA & SOC 2 compliance design
  • Zero-trust enablement & identity
  • Security operations alignment
PCI DSS · HIPAA · Zero Trust · IAM

Collaboration

IP telephony, contact center, and unified communications — Kevin’s deepest specialty, with Cisco Customer Advisory Board credentials and a 99.0% → 100% availability track record.

  • IP telephony & UC architecture
  • Contact center strategy & design
  • Voice, video & conferencing platforms
  • Workforce optimization & recording
  • IVR, virtual agent & CX design
Webex · CVP · Genesys · Nuance · CCE

All four practice areas are delivered under the A2O discipline — signed deliverables, named executive sponsors, and a roadmap your governance forum owns after we leave.

Partners

Partners & Ecosystem

WetzEnt is independent — we never accept vendor commissions or referral fees. These are the technology vendors, system integrators, and solution providers we work alongside when their capability is the right fit for an engagement.

What We Believe

Five operating principles — not slogans.

  • Top-Down without Bottom-Up is a fantasy. Strategy that doesn’t survive contact with the actual IT estate is the leading cause of transformation failure.
  • Bottom-Up without Top-Down is busywork. Technical modernisation untethered from business outcomes optimises the wrong things.
  • Deliverables are decisions, not documents. The five A2O artifacts are signed by named executives. If nobody signs, it isn’t a deliverable.
  • Independent advice means refusing to take vendor money. We don’t accept referral fees, vendor commissions, or sponsorships. The technology recommendation is whatever fits your gaps.
  • Execution outlives the engagement. The governance forum we design in pillar 5 is owned by you, run by your leadership, and survives our departure.
